There is not only a lot to see here, but also to learn. Especially the exhibition “Topography of Terror” offers a lot of pictures and video material.

Berlin Wall Memorial

The Berlin Wall Memorial is an important place that is particularly reminiscent of the division of Germany. The historic site can be found on the Bernauer in Berlin and stretches over a length of 1.4 km. The last section of the wall can be viewed at the Berlin Wall Memorial. Visitors can get a good impression of the location and structure of the border facilities on site. Through the remains of the wall, the dramatic events of that time are brought to mind. Many tourists come here every year to take photos of the remains of the wall.

Documentation Center in Berlin

The capital’s documentation center is also an important place to find out about Germany’s history. In the exhibition “Topography of Terror”, the curators Andreas Sander and Klaus Hesse present many photo documents. This is primarily the NS period from 1933 to 1945. The documentation center provides an important insight into German history. One of the focal points of the permanent exhibition is the documentation about the machinations of the police and SS and the crimes committed worldwide. In addition to photo material, there are also some film and sound documents available, which is very interesting. The exhibition is also well suited for children, since the topic of German history is usually also covered at school.

New Synagogue – Center Judaicum

The Neue Synagoge – Centrum Judaicum is one of the largest synagogues in Germany. It was inaugurated for the Jewish New Year in 1866. The museum mirrors Jewish history in an interesting way. The dome of the synagogue can be visited from April to September. The Neue Synagoge – Centrum Judaicum can be found at Oranienburger Straße 28 – 30 in Berlin Mitte. Parts of the building are now listed buildings. There are regular exhibitions in the restored part of the building.
