Neukölln is an administrative district in Berlin with about 329700 inhabitants. After the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district and the Berlin Mitte district, it is the most densely populated district in the capital. Neukölln was named after the district of the same name, which makes up the northern part of the district. Between 1945 and 1990, the district was part of the American sector from western Berlin.
